Market Survey on VDP (variable data print) on fiber-based packaging

Marcus Rehberger, PhD Student at the Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm (KTH), presently based at the QIGC, is working on a market study about variable data print (VDP) on fiber based packaging. To get a better overview, KTH and Innventia AB in co-operation with The Quebec Institute of Graphic Communications (QIGC) are performing this study. This should shed light on what is possible today and in the future and in which way it can be used.

The need to attract the customer at the PoS is crucial. A hybrid printing process can assist to fulfill this need by customizing the packaging with variable data print (VDP). Such a solution could be realized combining Flexo or Offset print with inkjet technology. The final report will be published in 2010 and all participants will be informed and supplied with a copy of the report.
